As of December 31, 2024, BioMed Realty provides 1,410 EV charging stations, making sustainable commuting more accessible for tenants, employees, and visitors while reducing transportation-related emissions.

Energy Efficiency
At BioMed Realty, we strive to design new development projects to use 20% less energy than the ASHRAE 90.1-2010 baseline or 15% less energy than the ASHRAE 90.1-2013 baseline.*

Low Emission Materials
BioMed Realty aims to select building materials that meet LEED’s low-emission standards, focusing on four categories: paints and coatings, adhesives and sealants, flooring, and composite wood
LEED® Certification
All ground-up developments aim to earn a LEED Silver certification or higher.
Building Performance
At BioMed Realty, we operate with a tenant-first ethos measuring building performance within the first year to monitor and track building performance to best meet our tenants’ needs.
Embodied Carbon
As we develop, we aim to reduce embodied carbon by 10% by designing the structure and exterior with lower-carbon materials, backed by product-specific Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
EV Charging
For every new building project, at least 5% of parking spaces have EV chargers installed or be pre-wired to add them later.
Product Transparency
Select at least 10 permanently installed building products from three or more manufacturers that have LEED-compliant Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Health Product Declarations (HPDs).
Waste Diversion
Aim to keep 75% of construction and demolition waste out of landfills.
Outdoor Water Efficiency
Target a 50% reduction in landscaping and irrigation systems potable water use compared with the Uniform Plumbing Code baseline.
Indoor Water Efficiency
Aim to reduce indoor water consumption by 35% compared to standard plumbing code requirements.
Healthy Building Standards
All New developments aim to achieve Fitwel 2-star certification or meet applicable WELL v2 preconditions so it’s “WELL Ready.”
Outdoor Amenities
Incorporate outdoor space for recreation, exercise, relaxation, or other amenities.
