BioMed Realty’s Gateway of Pacific Earns BOMA TOBY Award for Excellence in Life Science Operations

Gateway of Pacific was recognized for its best-in-class operations and its ability to support the specialized needs of life science and technology tenants through high-quality facilities management, reliable infrastructure, and a strong tenant experience.

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – BioMed Realty, the largest private operator of real estate for the life science and technology industries, today announced that its Gateway of Pacific campus in South San Francisco has been named a local winner of the BOMA TOBY (The Outstanding Building of the Year) Award in the Life Science category.

Presented by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), the TOBY Awards are among the most respected and comprehensive recognitions in commercial real estate, honoring excellence in building operations, sustainability, tenant experience, energy management, and overall asset performance.

Gateway of Pacific was recognized for its best-in-class operations and its ability to support the specialized needs of life science and technology tenants through high-quality facilities management, reliable infrastructure, and a strong tenant experience. As companies rapidly adopt AI-enabled tools and data-intensive workflows, demand is increasing for lab and office environments with greater power capacity, infrastructure redundancy, and the operational reliability required to support uninterrupted research. Gateway of Pacific is designed and operated with this level of performance and adaptability in mind.

Across its portfolio, BioMed Realty continues to invest in operational excellence, sustainability initiatives, and tenant-first services, supporting the research and innovation of leading life science and technology companies.

“This recognition speaks directly to the expertise and commitment of our property and facilities teams, who work every day to deliver reliable, high-performing environments for our tenants,” said Bob Nowak, BioMed Realty Senior Vice President of Operations for West Coast Markets. “Life science and technology companies depend on precision, uptime, and responsive support. The Gateway of Pacific team takes pride in meeting that responsibility, and this award recognizes the standard they set.

“As AI and advanced technologies become more integrated into research and business operations, companies are placing even greater value on facilities that are purpose-built, resilient, adaptable, and ready for evolving technical demands.”

Gateway of Pacific also places health and wellness at the center of building design. The campus features a state-of-the-art amenity center that offers an array of culinary, fitness and community experiences through BioMed Realty’s Discover Here programming. The Forum, a 20,000 square foot premier conference center, provides a unique meeting and gathering space for tenants.

As a local BOMA TOBY winner, Gateway of Pacific will advance to the Pacific Southwest Regional competition, which includes properties across California, Arizona, Nevada, and Hawaii. Regional winners will then move on to the international level, with final TOBY winners announced at the 2026 BOMA International Conference & Expo in Long Beach on June 30, 2026.
