With a proven track record for creating value, the BioMed team continues to leverage its extensive expertise, experience and relationships with key leaders in the core life science markets, having grown a portfolio that effectively meets the dynamic needs of the life science industry.

Under the guidance and leadership of our experienced, highly knowledgeable management team, BioMed has grown from an initial asset base of $500 million in 2004 to over $3 billion in life science assets, with properties throughout the seven life science core markets.

Alan D. Gold,
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Alan D. Gold has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since our formation in 2004. He served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of BioMed's privately-held predecessor, Bernardo Property Advisors, Inc., since August 1998. Mr. Gold was a co-founder and served as President and a director of Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc., a publicly traded REIT specializing in acquiring and managing laboratory properties for lease to the life science industry, from its predecessor’s inception in 1994 until he resigned as President in August 1998 and as a director at the end of 1998. Mr. Gold served as managing partner of GoldStone Real Estate Finance and Investments, a partnership engaged in the real estate and mortgage business, from 1989 to 1994. He also served as Assistant Vice President of Commercial Real Estate for Northland Financial Company, a full service commercial property mortgage banker, from 1989 to 1990 and as Real Estate Investment Officer – Commercial Real Estate for John Burnham Company, a regional full service real estate company, from 1985 to 1989. Mr. Gold received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and his Master of Business Administration from San Diego State University.

R. Kent Griffin, Jr.,
President and Chief Operating Officer

R. Kent Griffin, Jr. has served as our President and Chief Operating Officer since December 2008, also having served as our Chief Financial Officer from March 2006 to June 2010. Mr. Griffin previously was part of the real estate investment banking group at Raymond James & Associates, Inc. where he was a Senior Vice President responsible for advising real estate clients on public and private equity and debt issuance, mergers and acquisitions, and other services. Prior to joining Raymond James in 2003, Mr. Griffin worked in the global real estate investment banking group of JP Morgan in both New York and San Francisco. Prior to that, Mr. Griffin was part of the real estate service group for Arthur Andersen LLP, where he was responsible for a range of audit and advisory services as a certified public accountant. Mr. Griffin received a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Accountancy from Wake Forest University.

Gary A. Kreitzer,
Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Director

Gary A. Kreitzer has served as our Executive Vice President, General Counsel and as a director since our formation in 2004. Mr. Kreitzer also served in the same role with Bernardo Property Advisors since December 1998. Mr. Kreitzer was a co-founder and served as Senior Vice President and In-House Counsel of Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc. from its predecessor’s inception in 1994 until December 1998. From 1990 to 1994, Mr. Kreitzer was In-House Counsel and Vice President for Seawest Energy Corporation, an alternative energy facilities development company. Mr. Kreitzer also served with The Christiana Companies, Inc., a publicly traded investment and real estate development company, in a number of roles from 1982 to 1989, including as In-House Counsel, Secretary and Vice President. Mr. Kreitzer received his Juris Doctor Degree, with honors, from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of California, San Diego. Mr. Kreitzer is a member of the California State Bar and the American Bar Association.

Matthew G. McDevitt,
Executive Vice President, Real Estate

Matthew G. McDevitt has served as our Executive Vice President, Real Estate since February 2010, having served as our Executive Vice President, Acquisitions and Leasing from February 2008 to February 2010 and our Regional Executive Vice President from February 2006 to February 2008, and having joined us in 2004 as our Vice President, Acquisitions. Mr. McDevitt previously served as President of McDevitt Real Estate Services, Inc. (MRES), which Mr. McDevitt formed in October 1997 as a full service real estate provider focusing on the life science industry. Before founding MRES, Mr. McDevitt spent ten years as a commercial real estate broker in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Mr. McDevitt received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business from Gettysburg College. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Association.

Greg N. Lubushkin,
Chief Financial Officer

Greg N. Lubushkin has served as our Chief Financial Officer since June 2010, having served as our Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer from April 2007 to June 2010. From November 2004 to March 2007, Mr. Lubushkin served as Chief Accounting Officer of ECC Capital Corporation, a publicly traded mortgage REIT that invests in residential mortgage loans. From 1988 to 2004, Mr. Lubushkin was an audit partner, and from 1977 to 1988 a staff member, of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, a public accounting firm. Mr. Lubushkin received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration (Accounting and Finance emphasis) from the University of California at Berkeley. Mr. Lubushkin is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

William A. Gartner,
Senior Vice President, Real Estate – Cambridge

William A. Gartner has served as our Senior Vice President since January 2007 and as our Vice President of Real Estate Operations from August 2004 to February 2007. From April 2000 to August 2004, Mr. Gartner was a Principal of William A. Gartner Real Estate Investments, a real estate consulting, brokerage and investment services company. From 1997 to 2000, Mr. Gartner served as Vice President and Regional Manager for CRIIME MAE Inc., a commercial mortgage REIT. From 1993 to 1997, Mr. Gartner served as Vice President and Managing Director of Paul Revere Insurance Group, a life and disability insurance company and a subsidiary of Textron Inc. From 1989 to 1993, Mr. Gartner served as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Textron Investment Management Company. Mr. Gartner received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Farleigh Dickinson University and a Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Karen A. Sztraicher,
Senior Vice President, Asset Management

Karen A. Sztraicher has served as our Senior Vice President, Asset Management since December 2009. Previously, she served as Vice President, Finance and Treasurer from April 2007 until December 2009 and as Vice President – Chief Accounting Officer from March 2005 to April 2007, having joined us in August 2004 as Senior Controller. From 1999 to 2004, Ms. Sztraicher served as Chief Financial Officer of GMS Realty, LLC, and from 1997 to 1999 served as Vice President Accounting of GMS Realty, LLC a private real estate company focused on acquiring, developing and operating retail properties in the western United States. Ms. Sztraicher became a certified public accountant in 1988 and received her Bachelors of Science Degree, cum laude, from Cal State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

John P. Bonanno,
Vice President, Development

John P. Bonanno has served as our Vice President, Development since April 2008. From 2000 to 2007, Mr. Bonanno served as co-founder and President of Phase 3 Properties, Inc., where he specialized in providing real estate solutions to life science companies and participated in the acquisition, development, leasing and management of laboratory buildings in California, Seattle and North Carolina. From 1990 to 2000, Mr. Bonanno served in various positions at CB Richard Ellis in the San Diego office, having achieved the title of First Vice President in his first year eligible and having consistently earned Top 5 Producer recognition in the Investment Division. Mr. Bonanno received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and is a licensed real estate broker in the state of California.

Jonathan P. Klassen,
Vice President, Legal and Secretary

Jonathan P. Klassen has served as our Vice President, Legal since May 2007 and as our Secretary since December 2008. Mr. Klassen joined us in October 2004 as our Corporate Counsel and has served as a Vice President since December 2006. From August 2000 to September 2004, Mr. Klassen was an Associate in the Corporate Department of Latham & Watkins LLP, where he focused on corporate finance transactions, mergers and acquisitions and general company representation. Mr. Klassen received his Juris Doctor Degree, cum laude, and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Klassen is a member of the California State Bar and San Diego County Bar Association.

Kevin M. Simonsen,
Vice President, Real Estate Counsel

Kevin M. Simonsen has served as our Vice President, Real Estate Counsel since December 2008. He was previously Senior Real Estate Counsel since April 2007 after joining us as Real Estate Counsel in March 2005.  From August 2000 to March 2005, Mr. Simonsen was an Associate in the Finance and Real Estate Department of Latham & Watkins LLP.  Mr. Simonsen received a Juris Doctor from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall). He received a Bachelor of Arts in English, and a Master of Arts in English in Literature, from the University of California, Irvine.
